Ben's WX Summary
- Updated: Wednesday @ 12:23pm
A trough of low pressure will dig into the Great Basin through Thursday generating a stronger onshore flow across Southern California. This will lead to cooler temperatures and gusty west to northwest winds at times. As this system slides further east on Friday, an offshore flow will develop on the backside through the weekend with slightly warmer temperatures and dry conditions. A closed/cutoff low is forecast to spin up off the Southern California coast on Sunday before moving east over Northern Baja on Monday. This could draw in enough wrap-around moisture for a few showers; however, it will likely tap into tropical moisture, pushing the snow level above 9,000 feet. Looking at variable high cloudiness this afternoon with highs in the 50s, west to northwest winds increasing 10-20 mph this evening with gusts to 30 mph possible tonight and Thursday. Daytime highs should drop into the mid and upper 40s on Thursday and Friday, while overnight lows cool to the 20s. Winds will shift more from the northeast to east this weekend, allowing temperatures to climb back into the 50s. Clouds and wind should increase on Sunday, with a chance of showers Sunday afternoon through Monday. Rainfall amounts should generally remain below a quarter of an inch with high snow levels. Low pressure will exit to the east on Tuesday with fair and gradually warmer weather the remainder of the week.
